Follow Our Journey: Bravo 2, Charlie 2, Foxtrot 2 & Sierra 2 – Day 8

We started our day with a breakfast buffet at Leverick before dropping our ball and heading over to The Bitter End Yacht Club. We enjoyed a few hours on land filled with beach volleyball, shopping, snacks, and cornhole. We also had the chance to sail Hobie cats from the beach and do water sports like tubing and wakeboarding.

Then we headed back to our boats and made quesadillas while enjoying chips and salsa. We then said goodbye to The Bitter End and raised our sails for the long journey to Anegada.

As we departed, we had a navigation lesson from our captain Rónan about how to stay on course without having land markers to reference. Spirits were high, and our crew worked together wonderfully to get us all the way to Anegada.

We arrived just before sunset and jumped right into showers. We began preparing for our special burger night. Betty’s Dream turned into Betty’s Burgers for the night!

Our provisions manager, Gus, supplied us with everything we need for a full-on burger feast. Our chefs, Gigi and Charlie, crafted beautiful burgers complete with homemade In-N-Out sauce made by Grayson and Gunnar’s bacon jam. We had two special guests from the staff boat, Gus and Tripp, join us for the meal. It was overall one of the best boat meals any of us ever had! We finished out the night with a boat meeting and lots of laughs before heading off to bed.

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
