Everyone woke up with heavy hearts today, recognizing that they’d have to leave behind a memory-filled place and a group of individuals founded from family and teamwork over this two week period. All of our bags were packed and ready to go on the dock as the taxis pulled up to whisk us away. Our captain and mate handed us all our airplane letters to read during our travels, written by our crew and staff.

We all shared some gigantic hugs, and exchanged contact information among friends. At 9a.m., goodbyes to Hodges Creek Marina were final and the taxi buses took us away to the ferry dock. From then on, we were en route to the St Thomas airport where we had our final and most considerable goodbye exchanges among comrades, friends, bunkmates, boat mates, the works!

It has been an incredible adventure these past two weeks, full of laughter and growth, and a numerous amount of firsts among this youngest crew. We could not be more proud of the memories made, the accomplishments achieved, and the nautical miles we’ve crossed, all in the effort to empower ourselves and each other along the way. Have a wonderful rest of your summer Tango 1 adventure – you will be missed! Come back anytime 🙂

Please enjoy a full photo album posted for the Tango 1 Adventure posted on Mike Liese’s Facebook Page in the following couple of days!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
