In the far far away lands of Saba Island the Delta students are blessed with not only excellent views of the jagged and lush volcanic island jutting but also the underwater world.

Our good friend the hawksbill turtle decided to spend almost the entire dive with us, making sure we got the best selfies of our lives before waving us goodbye. As for the students who weren’t diving they enjoyed a marine bio lesson with one of Delta’s fearless captains Emilia, concluded with a snorkel of their own.

Saba has rich history and the students were also fortunate to hike to the tippy top of the island through the cloudy forest, reaching the highest point in the kingdom of the Netherlands. After hiking down we visited Jo, a local glass bead making artist where the students learnt new skills and made beautiful glass beads of their own. They can’t wait to show you when they get home in a couple days but for now, they wear them with Delta pride!

The greatest challenge during the program was staying entertained during the quarantine period. Not being able to leave your boat and not having a phone, which was a crutch against boredom, it was difficult at first to stay entertained.
