Emily Pytell

Emily is from Michigan and grew up sailing on the lakes every summer. She recently graduated from the University of Michigan in December 2025 with a degree in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Oceanography. Since then, she has been working as a kayak guide in the beautiful mangroves of Islamorada in the Florida Keys and scheming ways to live by the ocean for the rest of her life!

Other than sailing, she loves to surf, travel, sew, swim, camp, fix things, and listen to music. She is also a little bit obsessed with Bananagrams and reality TV. With a long background racing sailboats of all sizes, she feels most at home out on the water. She hopes to inspire excitement, curiosity, confidence, and a lasting connection to the ocean in everyone she works with, and is so excited to meet everyone!
