EARLIES Day 5
Written by Thomas C; Mate
We had a 07:00 wake-up today, and our breakfast prep students, Charlie and Noah, got started on setting up the breakfast buffet. While everyone enjoyed the meal, our first diver, Jayden, headed off with the rescue divers around 07:45.
After breakfast was cleaned up, our divers, Charlie, Noah, and Lolly, headed over to the dive boats to start their day underwater. Today, we swapped boats and had some different students sailing with new groups for our journey down to The Bight on Norman Island. Two groups also sailed the Colegates down! The sail was pretty short, but everyone had a chance to do something different, and we all had fun. It was a really sunny day, and the water was filled with tons of other boats.
Once we arrived at Norman, we practiced some teamwork by hooking the mooring ball. Then, we had lunch back on everyone’s assigned boats. After lunch, we took out the dinghies and started to shuttle the whole fleet to shore for a hike. We all walked up to a helipad that had a strong breeze and a beautiful view—one side facing the Atlantic and the other looking out toward Tortola.
At the top, we played some games to get to know each other better and to just enjoy being loud and silly. After the hike, we headed back to the boats and reunited with the divers. During the evening, we had some swim time and fun with the other boats, soaking up the last bit of sunshine.
After showers, dinner prep was led by Paige and Lolly, who did an amazing job making burrito bowls. Once dinner was cleaned up, we tackled boat clean so we could sleep in a tidy home.
At staff meeting, we went over the usual boat updates, thankfully, nothing major came up. We wrapped up the day with a boat meeting, played a hydration game, and then Hot Seat to close out the night.
We’re headed to Nanny Cay, where everyone will get a chance to stretch their legs on land, pick up some treats, and enjoy the luxury of land showers!
