We woke up around 7:30 to the beautiful bight at Norman Island, breakfast buffet underway and divers fuelled up and ready to head off to Cooper Island.
While that was happening, Sierra and Foxtrot students grabbed notebooks and snorkel gear and headed to Graytful for a turtle lesson, followed by their second turtle spotting session. No turtles were spotted this time, but it was still a lovely outing, dinghying around the island, admiring the cliffs, and snorkeling near sea turtles in the seagrass meadows.
What a busy morning! Everyone’s now getting ready for turtle tagging, coming up in the next few days!
It was also a chance for the rest of the crew to get out on the water, with tubing the favourite of the moment and a bit of waterskiing too.
After lunch we set sail for Soper’s, with its bright, colourful buildings tucked into the mountains at the very west end of Tortola. Then came some well earned downtime, campers sprawled on the trampoline, chatting and playing cards while waiting for the next marine bio lesson.
Foxtrot and Sierra programme campers gathered to learn about phytoplankton, then headed out with nets to collect samples for a closer look under the microscope.
By evening, every boat topped off water, everyone grabbed a shower, and we all watched the sun set behind the green mountains. Just another lovely day in the BVI!
