Summer Community Service

We offer Community Service on ALL our summer programs!

We've been teaching in the Caribbean for more than 30 years.  We know the islands and the people…and we're committed to giving back to those that give so much to us.

"The kids learn so much…they learn marine science, they learn the culture through the YEP program, they learn teamwork and how to work together…"
-Betsy Morris,Atlanta, GA

We connect you with local youth groups, empowering both parties to learn, lead and gain an appreciation for each other's cultures and the environment through sustainable projects.  Projects are chosen based on need. Collaborating with community leaders ensures we're contributing where those needs are the greatest. We work closely with local organizations so the local populace can take ownership of projects long after we leave.

The opportunity to earn community service credit varies by program, ranging from 3 to 5 hours of service on most two-week programs to 30 hours on our Foxtrot Environmental Service, Scuba & Sailing programs, which have the greatest emphasis on service.  To determine which program best suits your needs, see the list of hours you can earn during your stay with us by program:

20 - 30 hours Foxtrot 1 & 2 programs
15 - 20 hours Sierra and Foxtrot 3 programs
10 - 15 hours Tango program
5 - 8 hours Bravo, Charlie 1 & 2, and Delta programs
3 - 5 hours AlphaCharlie 3, and Echo programs

Sail Caribbean provides you with the opportunity to be more than just a tourist. With each unique country you visit, you'll be exposed to views and lifestyles different from your own. Whether you're interested in youth outreach and cultural exchange, marine biology or environmental conservation, you'll have plenty of opportunities to roll up your sleeves and pitch in!
