Last full day of the program! And what a big day it was. We woke up at 7:00 a.m. and enjoyed a breakfast of yogurt parfaits. Afterwards, we did a big boat clean, and the kids packed up all of their belongings before we began the long list of activities we had planned.
Once everything was completed, we headed over to The Baths, where all the students hopped into the water and swam ashore. Jack, our fleet marine biologist, gave us a lesson on the batholithic rocks found there. We then walked through the caves together, taking in the beautiful light streaming through the rock formations and reflecting off the crystal-clear water.
After exploring The Baths, we swam back to the boats, weighed anchor, and began our sail back to where the program first started: The Moorings. When we arrived, a delicious barbecue was already being prepared while the campers enjoyed hot showers and some well-earned phone time before dinner.
On the menu was jerk chicken, hamburgers, Greek salad, and corn on the cob. With full bellies, we headed over to the tents for our end-of-program slideshow, skits, and awards ceremony. Each boat performed a skit in front of the crowd, and there were plenty of laughs as every crew took the stage. It was a wonderful way to celebrate all of the memories, friendships, and accomplishments from the past two weeks.
After everything wrapped up, the campers returned to their boats for one final boat meeting and some free time before bed. Lights out was at 9:30 p.m. since everyone had an early morning ahead for the big travel day home.
